Thanks for posting Rod, not widely advertised but there is some bids there already.

All very unfortunate for Tom - I don't think backpackers have the money for this sort of thing.

High buyers' premium but maybe someone will get what they are looking for

I can offer limited information to REGISTERED members only.
PM me.
Caveat- I am interested in some of the seats, bins an bits. I will offer honest information and let you know if we are bidding on the same things. Maybe we can make a deal ;)

Good idea Dave,

We all should talk , I reckon we beat each other up all the time on eBay and the rest.

Be good to have some sort of protocol.

Not that I'm interested in anything regarding this particular auction.

Cheers,

Mick

Thanks Mick.
Juddy and I bid againns each other when buying our RFSVs. Probably cost him and extra $500!
Few of us want 6 storage bins so i thought we might have a gentlepersons agreement to avoid clashes and get just the stuff we want. MAybe meet up on pick-up day and do some swapsies out the front ;)
Cheers, Dave.

Don't expect to get the items you may bid on, a number of parts have disappeared from some lot numbers.  Some parts have also been deliberately moved and hidden in other places

Is that AWOL gear being deliberately moved and hidden ?  Who from, the Administrators ?

I can't comment on who may be moving items that have been advertised by Greys, but items have been moved by someone.  Greys said the administrators are also still looking for a number of missing land rovers.  Its clear that theres a lot of stuff thats gone missing already.

Some of the descriptions are a bit off, too.

http://www.graysonline.com/lot/0085-7011469/auto-accessories/qty-5-x-land-rover-axle-shafts

Lot 85 is described as FIVE Land Rover axle shafts, but 3 are new in crates with an NSN of 2520-66-021-7662. These are actually Mk4 Inter axles. I think the current high bidder is aware of this though.

And I'd like to know precisely what a "Duckmaster" is! Looks like it uses an LT95 gearbox.

It's actually a "Bushmaster" 6x6 transmission that has had the pto and 3rd axle drive removed.

I was hoping it might have been a previously unknown 6x6 Amphibious truck.  ;D (sarcasm font off, I had worked out what it was, just commenting on the inaccuracies of the Lot descriptions).

Pictured in Lot 6  ....

Are these some kind of experimental offroad wheel , fabricated on a split rim centre ?

If they're still in it as pictured it might be worth a bid ?

Gee these have had a few owners recently.

They came from Ians collection at Toolern Vale, apparently an experimental rough terrain thing.

I thought that there were 4 of them originally?
Title: Re: AWOL sell off begins
Post by: 303Gunner on April 19, 2016, 02:10:35 PM
5 originally.

The other 3 wheels are in Lot 8.

The lot descriptions for Lot 6 and Lot 8 state that they are included with the trailer.

That brings back a shock thought, bidding on 2 items the same. I did that with the 6x6 first up ,thinking I will get the one thats lower. Right ! 5min to the hammer Im winning both, not a good feeling. Told Wifey and all hell broke lose. Yep I was out bid on both when I had enought guts to have a look. Mate I then went to the safe bidding with a limit auto bid, much easier on the ticker as well..
Big smile now...
Bob..

Thanks Dave, I won't be getting it as I have nowhere to locate it - I just wish I had one of this type of hoist.

WOFTAM - .. waste of etc etc etc ?  :)

It would save using ramps, jacks and axle stands  :) .

Probably as much as they think they are worth ... which is probably more than they really are worth, after having nobs thrash the living daylights out of them and without the Defence service backup.

I don't see the SRV's listed.  Didn't they have two of those?

The vehicles did Bugger all work with awol. 3 of the 4 times that the few that went out was for photo shoots and promo work, not punters. Awol mechanic is a 40yr RAEME WO2, workshop Foreman also RAEME. They were in good hands!

Here's a good'n.   I'm a little confused (nothing new!).
Lot 28.   Description states ... 'forward facing 3rd seat (complied)'     So whoever 'complied' it, doesn't know how to use a pop-riveter after modifying the compliance plate.   AFAIK, modding the plate is illegal, yes?  As well as not having the smarts to use said riveter  ;D .   This mod should have a blue mod plate attached by an engineer?, or might they get away with some form of signed paperwork?
There's other RFSVs there where they haven't even bothered bodging the plate.
Maybe someone can enlighten me on this please.

Is the "blue plate" you refer to just a Queensland requirement ?

Not entirely sure dugite, but I thought it to be a national requirement.
I know they were reg'd in NSW, but I thought NSW was always tougher than Qld anyway.

NSWRMS claim that they're tougher than QLD .... but I do not think it slways applies

I do know that they can be reluctant to accept a QLD blue plate -  some time ago we were looking at a QLD  Blue plated S3 with a turbo'd Isuzu engine - RMS (then RTA) were going to make it so hard it just wasn't worth it.

I don't know if it's the same thing, but here in Tassy I used to have an old Commodore that had a silver engineer's mod plate to show the LPG conversion was approved.
In QLD my old Belmont panelvan had a blue plate showing the old and new engine numbers.

So, the boys in blue would have to be well up on their vehicles and options to know what they're looking at, without the mod plate. This system still doesn't explain the anomaly of some of the RFSVs having the standard compliance plates ...  is the modified compliance plate with the '3' stamped into it a mistake/trickery perhaps?  I find it strange that any state would allow any modification of any compliance plate.
FWIW, SA and Tas now both use the blue mod plate.

Them Blue Plates can do some magic stuff. Lot 6 now has a GVM of 3200Kg!

Interesting that some vehicles do actually have Queensland issued blue plates, when, as I understand it, these vehicles have only been registered in NSW. Why go to the trouble of having them certified in Qld when NSW may possibly not recognise the certification? In fact, the RMS specifically say they don't recognise interstate certifications and require them to be re-examined by a NSW certifier. Were the 10-seater 6x6 "tour buses" reg'd in Qld?
Title: Re: AWOL sell off begins
Post by: Barefoot dave on May 28, 2016, 08:43:29 AM
Gunner, the 10 seat conversions were done in Qld and to my knowledge, none were registered at the time of Administration. Most were still at the Engineers. That is why one is half converted.
Perhaps El can shed some light...
