Title: No.5 suspension
Post by: Magellan on October 19, 2015, 12:27:26 PM
I've found a No.5 that has been lowered. Would that have been achieved by simply changing the position of the springs to underneath the axle (as it is currently) and therefore to raise it back to original simply reversing that?

Also, is the towing ring on these trailers fixed or able to rotate?

cheers, Daryl

Regards the lunette, it should be locked - that was an army mod, and at the same time they removed the locking tabs on all the Pintle hooks, so the hook could rotate.
I believe the springs should be as simple as putting them back on top of the axle, but I'd worry about how good the thread is on the U bolts. They might be fine.

The rps might help with the axle change

Yep it's all about the axle.  Undo the u bolts slide the axle out and roll it 180 degrees and put it underneath the springs. The centre bolt on the springs will go into a hole the flat plate that is welded to the axle.

Some pintle rings will still have the lock washer it can be rotated to give 90 degree movement or removed to give full movement if replaced with plain washer.

Cheers
