Hi Guys. New to the forum, and new to ex-military ownership too. Just bought a no.5 trailer with the intent of using it for off-road camping, etc. I don't really plan to restore it, although it still has its camouflage paint and army markings which I want to retain.
Hoping someone might be able to suggest where I might acquire a tarp for it (original or repro), and a wheel to use as a spare.
I'll post some pics up shortly, and promise to make sure the tow vehicle isn't visible (Jeep)!!

Welcome to the forum Spectre.
You didn't buy the one with the Jeep tail lights, did you?
Don't worry about editing out the Jeep. We have Landcruisers on this site. If you look hard, you may even find a Jeep.

Spare wheel and tyre shouldn't be too hard, they are land rover rims with 750x16 tyres.
Tarps are not overly complicated to have made, however an original one, with hood bow, are more triangular in shape. Redrocket was making them, not sure if he is at the moment though.

Thanks for the replies fellas.
Spot on Mick, that's the trailer I bought. I thought there'd be more activity about it, the seller rejected two offers then accepted my $1100. Not sure if it's a bargain or I got ripped, but I'm pleased with the purchase. I even like the Jeep lights (naturally!), but if I happen upon some originals then I'll change them. But Landcruisers on the site? C'mon....... ;)
Wheel wise, they're standard LR 6.5x16 inch? It's got 275/75/16 tyres on it at the moment, waaaay too wide for the rims but nice and tall. Ultimately I'd like to get some bar treads (is that the correct term?), but the tarp's a higher priority. It's got the hoop so I definitely want the triangular fitted tarp. I might shoot Redrocket a message.
Thanks again
Andrew

I put a bid in on that one myself. Looked in reasonable nic. Well done.
As you have a Jeep, I'd be tempted to leave the Jeep tail lights on.

Yeah, it's in pretty good shape, some surface rust inside the tub from things bouncing around in there for decades I'd assume, and a strip across the front of the floor where water's pooled. Not rusted through, just flaking and pitted. Other than that it's really solid. Actually, the underside looks in far better shape than inside the tub!

Nothing wrong with Landcruisers 8)

I would love to have an ex-ADF Landcruiser.

Here's some recent pics of my No 5. Big thumbs up to Red Rocket for the awesome canopy, and Mick Marsh for the spare wheel (which is now a nice shade of army green!).

Cheers David, appreciate the offer. At this stage though I'm not looking restore the trailer for originality, it'll be mainly for offroad camping and I'm covered rim-wise for that kind of use. :)

G'day Spectre :)
I would suggest that you change the tyres to 7.50 x16 probably steel teeks or olympics that are currently fitted to the army fleet, you will find that it will tow better with the narrower tyre.maybe you can swap with somebody on here.
