Not sure if any body was aware but the Leyland Brothers had a Mule, I believe they used it to explore a giant crater, anyway its still alive and I am contemplating assisting in its restoration.....

Hi there
Not sure if any body was aware but the Leyland Brothers had a Mule, I believe they used it to explore a giant crater, anyway its still alive and I am contemplating assisting in its restoration.....
As a bit of a history buff, was the mule a 4x4 and whats sort of engine was it powered with - they also had a series II or IIA fitted with huge tyres anyone know where this is today.........the wagon is in the Birdwood Museum in Adelaide (fitted with a rover 6 cylinder)
All the best

I knew about the Mule, I wasn't aware that it still existed though, AFAIK Mules were 4x4. As for the swb Series 2, it was junked in Dungog approx 30 years ago, I have the Overseas Land Rover club badge off it, and the history of the wreck was told to me by Mr Owen Rumble.
The wheels and tyres were still in existence up until approx 3 years ago, they went as scrap/rubbish when a big clean up was the order of the day, cheers Dennis
