I didn't think these (and Land Rovers) were going to be auctioned to the public.....

Yep. They're not being auctioned to the public. It's just a figment of your imagination.
And, if they were, you can't register them bacause they don't conform to the ADR's and don't have a compliance plate and.......
Oh, by the way, can anyone in Tasmania store a truck for me for a little while?

They don't conform to ADR????? neither does a Massey Ferguson 135....

Sorry Diana Alan the Egret's are already on there way to Tassies to pick it up it
They don't conform to ADR????? neither does a Massey Ferguson 135....
Hang on, our massey-ferguson 135 was registered????
I think Mick is most correct, not only do they not comply, they are full of invisible rust, you cant buy tyres for them and Mercedes has withdrawn all parts chain supplies, AQIS has stated that Unimog parts are an illegal import!
So unfortunately anyone thinking of going to the auction is wasting their time and money. 8)
Diana
BTW Can someone in Tassie pick me up from the airport the morning of the Auction! ::)

I have space to store, but not a licence to drive! At least I am on the way to the boat from hobart!
I believe the Land Rovers and Mogs will probably come up as batches of vehicles, however I am told of interest from overseas in the batches.

I followed and photographed a civilian Western Australian licensed Unimog in Perth in mid February this year. It cames a quite a surprise as I hadn't heard of any being disposed of yet.
Apart from the civilian dressed driver and civilian number plates it appeared to be 100 percent original.
Having driven them regularly in the Army I didn't really like them that much, preferring the Mk5 but I can see why they generate such strong interest.
I'm guessing that they will find favour with mining companies as well as collectors.
Cheers

I know of at least 2 U1300L model mogs in Aust. both in Qld the latest is an Ambo version ex-Bundeswehr from Northern Germany and they are in the caring hands of a Military Jeep Club member (MJCQ.inc) nice company for his F2 ;) but I doubt that AQIS would ban parts import or vehicles if they complied with personal import rules. there is also an RB-44 in Qld as well :)

Hi Team, a late reply.
There is a number of Unimogs from NZ on your turff for the last two years registered.
If you bought one, I would send you parts if you wanted. ;)
I got militry parts for our Mighty Mite from the USA, form a forum member, as the parts outlet would not sell & send to NZ. :)

Mog prices have been rising through the year. Some non-operational units have been put up too.
Here's an illustration of the "time served" by Mogs in the Australian Army.
