Hi All,
I'm the proud owner of 48-532 GS and I was contemplating installing another battery with a solar panel installed on the cargo carrier on the roof. (Rag Top)
I'm intending to spend a lot of time travelling in this rig prospecting and I am going to set up the Trail Blazer fridge in my No5 trailer, plus run extraneous bits off it.
Has anybody achieved this successfully?
What did you use? Can I see your setup?
Cheers, love this site, I'm learning off you all the time.

V nice GS. Looks new.
Welcome to REMLR.
Solar sounds good. I am using dual batts with a Red Arc isolater. I haven't got a fridge yet. So you'll have to wait forsomeone else to chat about them.

Cheers Carzee,
Where have you placed your 2nd battery?

Hey Banjo.
I dont have a solar setup, but i do have a dual battery system in my gs that could accomodate one in the future. I managed to fit a 120ah deep cycle in with the original battery, but its a very tight fit. Had to temporarily move the side panel as you can see. I had to make up a tray to keep them level, there's lots of info from defender owners available on this, but here's a picture. I then run a bcdc charger, and a secondary fuse box for the fridge, invertor, lights and compressor (see pictures). So far it's all worked ok, but the real test comes tomorrow when i leave for Lorella Springs.
Cheers, Matt.

Cheers mvfrancis - You are a legend,
I can see how that works, didn't really want to put a second battery in the tray.
Thanks heaps for the info and photos - Works for me.

How's everybody's dual battery setups going?

Excellent! So good in fact, i copied my above setup in my county as well (except I have an alternator for each battery and keep the circuits isolated as opposed to the bcdc charger).
I have since added an external Anderson plugs to the second batteries so i can connect the solar panels without opening the compartment. Should of done that to start with.
Otherwise faultless and i often wonder how i got by before I did it
