Title: Tool mounting brackets and tools
Post by: Mick_Marsh on July 20, 2012, 12:52:28 PM
Are SIIA, SIII and Perentie tool mounting brackets the same across the range or are there differences?

Yeah Perentie shovel mount different, a bit higher and a steel rod across the top not flat steel.

I bought some recently and I'm wondering what they're from.

I have a Perentie axe head 'cross' clamp with wingnut and two wooden handles brackets with wingnuts. Thats the same function brackets on a drivers side on a Series 2/3.

It looks so similar to the Series 2A/3 bracket, but I do see that in horizontal profile, both brackets' flat bar that bolts to the bodywork has a slight curve to match the slight curve of the Perentie bonnet aka hood.

My 48-010 has flat steel, not the rod. I've noticed that almost all other Perenties have the rod. It would be interesting to find out when the changeover was.

IIRC, early 2A FFT with tools behind the seat are a little different as well

A little birdy told me that the changeover was in 87, as there was a change in the shovel used, and it hit the bonnet without spacing the bracket up from the bonnet.  redesigned the bracket and the washers were no longer needed.

I do wish I knew where you found those little birdies of yours  :)

The best I could do is watch some Bush Tucker Man; series one (48-001) has the shovel mount like mine, series two ("LR 254") has the rod mount.
