Hello everyone,
I have been wanting to get my hands on an army trailer to go with my 110 Perentie and have spotted this on the local auction site.
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=802283494
Can anyone give me some advise on it?
It says "Jeep Trailer" but is it just a No.5?
What stud pattern will it likely have?
Will it be tall enough to tow behind the Perentie? It looks a little low...
And what is it really worth? For the listed price I may as well import one from Australia.
Thanks in advance,
BadCo.

It's a No.4
Still desirable but a No.5 would be better for the Perentie. A Haulmark would be better.
-
it is a bantam to go behind a ww11 jeep
no 4 has flat mudguards where as the bantam has oval
-
What he said.
I'll get my glasses.
-
Ah, not really what I am after then. Draw bar looks to short as well.
Hm, now how to get a trailer from the auctions sent over here...
-
Fly over with an outboard and sail it back.
Buy it and get someone to deliver it to whoever you use to ship it.
Lots of No.5's for auction at Darwin at the moment.
Why Don't you ask Grays if they can help. What about Pack and Send?
-
Didn't the Kiwi Army have No5 to go behind the Skippys?
-
I know of a Cooks Body Works trailer that was designed to go behind the Perentie. Vendor wants $A2K (IIRC) for it.

I had seen a lot of No.5's at the Darwin auction, but wouldn't shipping from Darwin be much more expensive then Sydney? I'll have to look into that.
What is a pack and send?

I thought they did but I have no idea where they are. Rusting in civilian back yards probably.

Out of my budget and possibly bigger then I need?
EDIT: Actually the Cooks look perfect, still too much though.

As soon as you mentioned budget, I realised you probably couldn't afford to get a trailer over there anyway.
Budget be damned, just get one. No expense spared.
The Cooks trailer would well be worth the extra $500 or so.What is a pack and send?

How so? What do No.5's go for? ~$500 or so? Plus shipping and handling, I dunno just throwing a figure out there, another $500? Total a grand, even if shipping was a grand itself its still not up to the price of (that particular) Cooks.
Am I way off what shipping really costs? Please don't ruin my hopefulness of getting a trailer for my truck! :D
-
You are way off with your shipping costs.
You will be better off buying a local trailer. The NZ Army used a copy of the No5 trailer made by Walker Engineering in Hamilton. Virtually identical except for small details like the lunette shape and lighting. Used behind the Skippy 2As and the V8, you will see them from time to time on trade me. Perfect behind your Perentie.

Ah cool, at least I know what I am looking for now.
Cheers for that.

Here's one, in Auckland, no less! (PS they were built by Walkers Engineering in Hamilton, not to be confused with the UK made Brockhouse).

Ooo that's a good one! I haven't checked trademe over the holidays so I missed this one. Cheers 303Gunner.
Edit. Is it easy to tell the Walker ones from the Brock house?
-
Walker Engineering built the NZ-made versions of the No5, and were the only builders.
The Brockhouse trailer was a completely different design UK trailer that looks more like a miniature version of what we know in Aust as the 1 Ton Humber or Corio trailer. It was introduced into NZ Army service with the Series 1. It had a 15cwt rating, or about 750Kg.

Cheers for the info, you can see they are rather different. I wonder how the person has them mixed up!?
-
Because in NZ, the wider public equate "Army Trailer" to mean "Brockhouse".
Same as many people who don't know any better think that any older style 4x4 is called a "Jeep", just a generic term that sounds better than "One of those thingies".

Found another on TradeMe, any ideas what this is?

Best guess, similar to the type towed by a 1 ton Humber.
