Hi all,
another little project underway at the moment is to return this vehicle to the road.
I was offered this from a friend here in Whyalla several years ago, but couldn't fund it at the time.
It was purchased by a good friend Mr Ellard and we arranged its delivery.
between Ellard and myself the vehicle was made mobile and tidied up.
the vehicle isn't completely original, there are a complete set of axels and springs from a later truck under it and the rear cross member has been completely replaced with a fabricated box section to mimic the shape.
today I have stripped the old leaking fuel tank and replaced it with a seemingly spotless tank that leaks worse than the one I took out!
I have stripped the carburettor down and cleaned it out and now while it holds some fuel runs very sweetly.
the future plans are to finish tidying up as is, replace the door tops and respray to olive drab, that fits my other vehicle colour schemes and it is what it sort of is at the moment. I have to rewire most of the lighting circuits but that is the easy part for me.
I want to get it registered soon and run it around for a couple of months to iron any of the bugs out.

hopefully the workshop will be joining them this weekend!

Looks tidy, its a pity about the tank - are you going to seal the leak with that special liquid goop? (I forget the name).

I managed to pick up a replacement tank and radiator for the truck last weekend while in Adelaide, thank you PCB Land Rover.
fitted both this morning and got the engine running back up to temperature, all good so far.
hopefully I can get the wiring repaired, all the rear lights wiring from the firewall to be replaced, and the headlight wiring past the battery will need a tidy up.
fingers crossed I will have it registered prior to getting it painted in the next couple of weeks.
I have hung on to the military fuel tank, the original is extremely rusted out internally and the spare I had needs a coating to keep it sweet for my other CR should I look at rebuilding that one.
