Is this normal for s2a's?
-
And the straps. These are old and will need to be replaced.
-
The second pic is normal, I have the same on my S3. The straps are to limit suspension travel I think.

Thanks NATO man.

Both images are std fittings for a Series 2A 88" & 109", the Series 3 would only have it fitted to the front differential as the rear has a Salisbury, which is a completely different design.
As for the axle limit straps, they are as scarce as rocking horse dung, so whatever you do don't throw them away. Try to source some other material to have them remade, be careful not to fall into the novice crack ( I know you have a long standing military vehicle background) with Land Rover parts, as axle limit straps are available, but ONLY FOR Civvie types, they are too short, hope that's of some help, cheers mate Dennis :)

Thanks Dennis, will do.
As for being a novice, I still very much consider myself one.

good trick for axle straps is fire hose as it is high quality canvas (just like original), cut it open longitudinally then fold it over a couple of times and you have an axle strap - measure length off an old one then bolt it back on
hope that helps

Scott
