Hello,
I'm new to that board and I do not have an Australian Army LR. Nevertheless I'm here now and I hope that's ok for you.
My loved Landys are:
SIIa 109" ExMoD Softtop from 1971, so a late one and a Defender 90 Td5, MJ 2003.
I hope to find interesting information about Land Rovers, especially the military ones.
I run the second largest LR forum in Germany and the first German language Land Rover Wiki. So I would call myself an enthusiast or something similar. ::)

So, yesterday we took the first closer look at that Old Lady and it looks really fine...rust is not a problem, a few sealings and that's it. We'll take out the gearboxes and have a look there. I hope they are also in such a good shape...
After that the frame will be flooded with Fluid Film.
What do you guys here prefer? A Landy as close as possible to the original or do think modifications which makes sense or make the car more secure are ok? What about the color? Free to choose as long as the military look is kept? A friend of mine has found 7 paintings on his ExMoD, so when to call it original there?

You don't often the Brit Army Rovers with the raised suspension. Mostly the ones with that are the 1 Ton models and the Australian Army ones.

Interesting. I thought all have a raised frame except the ones which were called CL (Commercial). At least all I saw had a raised frame. Normal, non-military vehicles in service (for airfields and such stuff)...
This is not a 1-Ton, as I know from the VIN, its papers and according to James Taylor's specification guide. It is a GS (General Service) one.

Huh, I have been sometime off. Private things....However, I still work on my Series IIa. I needed to get the
- engine oil leaks done (ok, ok....that is somewhat a neverending tasks ;) ), front and back crankshaft seals, crankcase sump and all that
- check the gearbox, done, and it looks fine
- sealing the stearing box
I'm looking forward to test my new 1-2-3 Ignition. From others already using that I got only very positive feedback. Save operation and fuel saving.
In addition I change the non-powered brake system to a powerd one from the Series III, in fact that model was available with this powerd brake system, but my car wasn't ordered with that option.
And I did a re-launch of my German website with more pictures about all that stuff and a blog about my work on the Series.
