don't know where or when these were taken, but they were in a bunch of Vietnam slides.

Ooops, just realised - these are Dodge trucks not Inters! Sorry.

Ah well yes, maybe, the cab is definately Inter even if the badge on the doors and grill spell Dodge!  8)

Good day All,
Well Aussie Jeepster you were closer to the truth with the Inters than you thought.There are two films available on video on the War Memorial site that show the Dodge trucks and a few International C1500 civilian trucks on the deck of HMAS Sydney and unloading at Vung Tau. It makes you wonder if Chrysler couldn't supply all the trucks for the contract ,so it was topped off with a few C1500 Inters.   The films F10751 and F10747 are dated March and April 1971.
Thanks for bringing another piece of history to light with your photos.
It would be interesting to know how well received the trucks were and how long they lasted, I imagine rust took hold fairly soon and the parts supply would have dried up nearly as quickly.

The HMAS Sydney picked the trucks up from Adelaide. Was there an assembly line in SA for these trucks?

Interestingly, one screen shot shows a packing crate sitting on the back of one of the trucks with 'Government of Khmer Republic' stencilled on to it.

I wonder if these trucks were destined for that government and not SVN. I have yet to see any white Dodge trucks in photographs taken during the Vietnam war. This maybe because they were sent to Cambodia instead.
