Strewth - they want as much for a 40 year old 5 tonner as AFM are selling 30 year old 15 tonners.

A few of the Mack NIL dumps are currently on the dock at Port Botany heading off to mines in Africa.

Only about half the price they are wanting for the Macks on that site.

It seems that people in the mining industry must have too much money!

I still can't see that a F2 or even a F1 6x6 would be worth what they are asking, its not an immaculate truck after all, so perhaps, maybe half.

For a little more than $23K a number of the Macks were within reach and several of the non-operational ones were a quarter of that F2.

There are about 5 F2's on the market at the moment ranging from about $12000 with petrol engines to $15000 with diesel, none look as original as that one in construction sales, pity its had a perkins transplant, in saying this, all those trucks have been for sale for several weeks.

Just because its listed for sale at a price does not mean its necessarily worth it, or even 'for sale'. It could be an ugly divorce with a forced sale, and its intentionally listed high so noone buys it, or the seller has calculated everything spent and deems it worthy of that price - but is not in a hurry to sell.

The cheap 'value for money' items move on quickly, and you end up with expensive items sitting forever and a day on sites - and thus the next guy to sell his compares it to the one listed, and he is inclined to list it at the higher price also. Rinse, repeat. The more expensive ones sit around on the sites, the cheaper ones get sold and thus disappear from listings

If they sell it, all good, but its no good comparing prices between 40 year old trucks & 30 year old entirely different trucks which are now flooding the market - the price could be high just for a laugh, to see if anyone doesnt do research etc.
