Congratulations Cliff. A rare and worthy project.
Can you give us a quick run down as to the trucks condition etc and what is the next step in it's preservation :D

======================================================================
The truck is in very good condition for its age, the speedo shows 54,500 Klms dont know if its correct or not time will tell.
The only rust that I can find is in the bottom of the drivrers door, cab has surface rust on top with a very small crack. all its military fitting are still in place eg Tac sign holders, only missing high side ( seats ) on the tray and canopy and bows and fire ext. Main problem is with the gear box it wont engage gears and its not the selectors, 6 near new tyres I have two new indicator lenses for it but I need a left had head light glass The interior is complete except for the cover that fits over the electrical / fuse box, but the cab is very filthy full of red dirt The tray has an aluminium floor with achor points with in the tray and all is in very good condition Pintal hook and all air line to the rear still work and at some time in its post service life some one has fitted a heavy duty Hayman reace type tow bar below the chassis then removed it but its in the tray.
My plan is to attack it from both ends , I will remove the tray , paint the chassis and do the gear box at the same time I think I will just replace the gear box with a second hand one the D400 had the same box so it should not be a problem to get one.
Oh nearly forgot it came with a spare ignition key
