Second alternator
« on: August 13, 2018, 06:27:16 AM »
I am wanting to put a second high amp alternator into my perentie 6x6. Has anyone already done this?  And if so what bracket did you use and maybe where to source it from. I have a pully on the way.
Any suggestions or leads appreciated.
Cheers Rob

Why, the existing 70Amp one will handle a lot. Or you could just upgrade it to a 120Amp one. I run a single alternator on mine that handles, aircon, 2 X 100w old school spotties, sound system and also charges the 2 extra batteries that a 24v alternator would have originally.

I am thinking of going all-electric in a motorhome so will need quite a bit of electricity. Is there a bolt-in 120 amp alternator with the vaccuum pump available?

Thanks, Paul

Bearman, I am considering in running four 115 amp batteries. I am thinking it might be better to run a second alternator instead of a battery isolator.  I have a considerable amount of electrics I plan to install.
Cheers, Rob

I guess it depends on the amount of draw you will have.

You can never have enough storage I reckon RAF101.
Bearman,  I know some of those (AWAL) trucks ran second alternators for their accessories.
