Title: NATO plug
Post by: Shorty on January 25, 2013, 11:23:02 AM
G'day. I'm trying to wire up my military barge trailer in time for Corowa. The NATO plug on the trailer had been removed so I am trying to fit a spare one I had on a shorter No 5 cable. I am having trouble removing the plug from the cable. I removed the hose clamp from the base of the plug but can't seem to feed the cable through the plug. I assume this is the only way to get to the connections to disconnect.  Any tips on how to do this????

vaseline (or even baby oil) between the lead and the rubber casing to lubricate, try to run a fine probe around the entire lead so that there isn't any areas stuck together. also try to lubricate between the rubber mounting for the pins and the metal holder.

Once you have done that, try to force a blunt ended probe or rod between the lead and the rubber housing up to the pin mounting and then force the probe and lead through the housing and the pin mounting out of the its metal retainer.
