What's happened to all the cooks trailers? Are they all gone or is there still some in service?
No idea, however I still prefer the Haulmark PT1-1.2 http://www.graysonline.com/lot/0051-5008232/transport-trucks-and-trailers/haulmark-pt1-1-2-single-axle-cargo-trailer-mc2-06-2004

I find they are more usable and you can sleep in them on a stretcher.  The two at auction this week are both missing their bows.

.....and their A frame draw bars need some repair/replacement  and the mudguard on the badly bent one also needs replacement :), but still, they have some potential for a buyer with the ability to repair them if the price stays low.

I guess that some trainee drivers have never backed a trailer before :)

Thanks Diana, I'll see how the bidding goes. I'd rather get one now from Minto and have the time to get set up for the new year.  My new cadet job will have me going to Karratha and Port Hedland as well as Esperance, Kal and Perth. The FFR will be set up as a comms centre and there will be a fair bit of gear for me to carry. I've got the use of 49 505 and trailer when I require it but its a GS and I cant go sticking my radio gear etc in that Landi until it goes to auction and I buy it. That  could be a while.
Won lot 54. I cant believe the prices these are going for

Yup, less than the price of the new tyres fitted to them, or even the RRP of the Hella taillights!

Interesting that they have a chassis number stamped in the draw bar.
They've done that with all the NSW ones to provide a Blue Slip for roadworthy.

Yes, except these are old - numbers stamped a long time ago by the look of rust etc around the numbers.......

Yes, exactly. That is why I find them so interesting. I wonder why this was done?

No, the background steel is rusty, but the numbers are fresh. Have a close look and none of the individual numbers are rusty except where they stamped in already bare, rusty metal. The VIN numbers are in sequence with other trailers offered in the same auction. For instance, this trailer (Lot 60) got given the VIN TR410094936. Lot 59 got TR410094937, Lot 56 is TR410094938, Lot 57 is TR410094939, and Lot 58 is TR410094940.

MIck,when registering a trailer for the first time in NSW it has to have a VIN. Even if you have a home-built they issue you with a VIN which must be stamped on before you get the "blue slip" (which is a raodworthy cert to allow registration). Since this requirement was adopted these newly issued VINs by the NSW RMS have the TR41000...... prefix.

In this case the blue slip issuer,  (which is tied up with the  selling authority) would have been issued with a block of VINs to use (maybe hundreds at a time).

Yes. Know all that. We have a similar system here in Vic. We call it a "R" number.

What I wondered about was, assuming the army had them stamped quite some time ago, why would the army need to stamp them? But, as 303Gunner has pointed out, they are recent stampings. Makes the question pointless.
