ARMY KENWORTH
« on: May 25, 2012, 05:14:51 PM »
This photo was taken about 12 months ago in Townsville I belive it belongs to an engineers unit I will try and get more details on it.
Back in the early 1990's the army had a fleet of Kenworths ( K100Gs ?) from memory )all painted white in colour with a small tri service transfer on each door, with army plate and a mixture of army and civilian drivers These KW's I think replaced the fleet of  Volvo's F12 that the army leased for line haul around Australia.

I reckon it's an Air Force Combination. The load looks like plant you'd find at an airfield. The army ran KW's in their domestic line haul fleet in the 80's , k100 slimline cabs from memory.

Can't remember if it was ZD or someone down here in Sydney, but these line haul KWs are leased rather than owned so they can be updated whenever lease runs out or DMO has a change of opinion.

Diana,
According to mate of mine in the green skin, the old line haul scheduled runs , which used the white KW's etc are now sub contracted and done by civie truckies.
