« on: February 10, 2013, 11:10:29 PM »

Thanks Phoenix, Diana has been a tremendous help. Found on AULRO site That FC is the only one on Snowy Scheme. Built 50 years ago this month and delinvered to SMHEA in 1964 (checked by chassis number) This vehicle will only be put back together at the moment from a pile of bits that have been laying around for 35 years.

Unfortunately Dave you fell into the trap of an incomplete data entry, It was in the header but easy to overlook.

There is another SMHEA SIIA 6cyl FC (now included in the data) and I know where it still exists.

Hi David

(Not sure where SMHEA fits in with military vehicles, but there were apparently 2 SIIA FC and one SIIB tested by the ADE and the RAF used them in the UK)

In regards to your #053A vehicle, does it have rear body extensions to overhang the rear of the chassis?  The other SMHEA SIIA body does and apart from the cladding on yours and the front corners the bodies seem to have similar design.

Can you find any evidence that the front peak of the body, particularly the corners, may have been modified?

Hello Diana

That horrible body was apparently made by the previous owner about 35 years ago when he was making it for a trip around Australia. The workmanship was pretty poor and bits fell off it on the way home (bit of a problem)

I have no plans on using it as it is not part of the original vehicle. I am using it for a storage area for all the FC parts that are not used. Putting all the relevant parts on S2A to get a near complete FC apart from tray or what ever was on the rear. It will not start a complete reso until I have my other Military LR's well on the way.

It most likely would have had an enclosed body on the Snowy Scheme even if only used for crew transport.

BTW: a lot of f/c had their top chassis rails cut off adjacent the selector top on the gearbox.  Part chassis was an option.
