Yep, went to Minto had had good look around. New paint, mud still splattered around on the chassis... and then, the abomination of cut off lift points! Crikey. I asked the bloke 'why' and he said the RMS (NSW Roads and Maritime Services) require it. I guess that's in relation to the bloke issuing the blue slips - even the Unimogs and Macks have protrusions removed (and in the back to be refitted I suppose), but to butcher the Land Rovers and then cover the raw metal with paint is not on.
I'm not trying to talk down the prices, but it's bureaucratic nonsense.

PS. A few dripping oil too (rear main / front seal), with each sprayed in fresh paint - hubs, wheel nuts, window glass.... I'd bet the blue/brown slip fella didn't drive each vehicle as required. To finish my rant, the compliance plate says the vehicle complies with all regulations on the date of the plate being issued - lift hooks and all. So to say they're not allowed means the compliance plate is no longer valid. That and modifying a chassis (cutting bits off) usually requires an engineering signatory to say the modification is compliant. It's annoying. I'm going to have a lie down now.
