:) I have scanned a photo I haven't seen before, from the same book as the prod. line photo, Odgers 1988 "Army Australia".
The diggers are in greens and have SLRs. The tacs are pretty unreadable on the 6x6, but both vehicle front ends have "Tiger" markings. As far as the Tigers go, was it just Army PR putting on some 'props'? There is no doubt the photograph is a set up, and set up well - the lighting, the product placement etc. A pro job.

1600wide. [ nb the centre of the quarto size book (the binding) cannot scan well, thats why its blank. ]

There are 2 new ARNs for the records; 4x4 32-091 and 6x6 (skinny cab) is 29-598. Or are the ARNs 'props' as well?

Wow, creepy, I was sent the B&W version of this photo on friday last week, maybe thursday.  the ARN's are incorrect, and stemmed from me spotting another incorrect ARN on a Perentie Trials vehicle.  These are trials or initial production vehicles which have been posed for a PR photo and given arn plates from other vehicles, i've not checked what yet, I think inters or series 3 landrovers.

The tiger emblem belongs to 5/7 RAR so it is a PR photo but the troops are real

The 4x4 looks like one of the IPV's, it's FFR so should be able to identify from the book I got off Barefoot Dave on IPV's. It is a full Perentie not the 110/series 3 trial hybrids. But it does have the IPV bar with the large D shackles

cheers

Most likely both are JRA vehicles, I think the FFR would be the engineering development vehicle, VOY-194, and the 6x6 would be MMQ248 or ZCF358

I see the Perentie FFR has a fairly loose canvas on the passenger side too.

I hear the production guy's phone call; "Find somewhere to put both vehicles in on near a muddy creek and to add attraction/drama have a few uniforms "doing stuff". Oh, if we can get lucky, anything like a tank thingy would be great as well. Get them all in the one shot."

It is a very busy shot, but still your eyes go straight to the sunlight on the FFR.

It does on the colour, and the Black and white version just looks blown out.

Hi all,

Those photo's are definitely 5/7 RAR , that's the creek line  in the old 5/7 CTA at Holsworthy.

Hi Mick, the 6x6 has a drivers side red tac, white numbers on red. It has a diagonal white line divider. The corner above the line is definitely "59", but the lower corner number is mostly obscured.

Hi Carzee,
That would right 5/7 RAR tac plate is 59/ 61.

Great photo's of Corowa by the way. FFRMAN and I are thinking of getting together for a trip to Canberra when the annex open day is happening. Do you have any idea when this maybe in 2014?

Regards,

Mick

Regarding the "Big Things In Store" day for 2014... no info yet. It was Sept 15th last year.

Here is the pdf file from last year's day, as a guide:
http://www.awm.gov.au/sites/default/files/Big%20Things%20in%20Store%202013%20-%20Program_0.pdf

The map shows Callan Street is the entry point.
