Hi Chasmac, welcome and well done on the research.
Did you come up with the correct ARN (Army number plate), and what is it?

Thanks for all the interest hope I'm not jumping the gun the chassis no. Is. 24305340b.  Which after going through records leads you to arn.113-188. Wb 88. 1964 series 11a census 6005m nom, 1/4ton eng,25166663f (which sadly has been replaced with early red motor 186) chassis no 24305340b. And vic vtf (don't no what that means ,and disposal 3/3/72 ,
All good except that according to landrover the year should be 1960?

So does it look correct chassis no came off rear left hand side spring hanger and b is in little size will supply photos over the weekend.

Excellent, yes the 63 and 64 have that little lower case 'b'. I had a GS 88 once upon a time, for ten years or so.

Your 88 GS definitely saw service with the Australian Army in South Vietnam during 1968. I am glad it is 'still with us' after 50 years and has found its way to someone with The Addiction :)

113-188 is recorded on a Aust War Memorial document - it was issued from the 2 AOD vehicle park at Vung Tau (1ALSG).
See the following link, 4th April 1968, on the page with a header saying 'Sheet 5 of 5' in the top right hand corner.

Congratulations.

Good day Charlie,
Nice to see the information on your Land Rover you were telling me about, and a veteran is definitely worth spending the time and money on.
It is interesting reading the 2AOD diary ,I found the ARN of an International tipper the one before my 108 747 but of course it might as well be a hundred away.
Anyway look forward to seeing the photos.
Cheers Ken
