48663 gold coast

Gday all

I am the new owner of 48663 and i thought i would start a thread to document any changes and general goings on with it.

The pickup was a bit rough , the gear selector had been pulled out pf place so you couldnt get into gear , luckily one of the blokes working there had the tools we needed to get it sorted .
We drove to the roadworthy inspection at a place called "the chequered flag" in nundah and they were very nice and it passed with no dramas.
Took the RWC down to my local registry and all done!
I have a list of things to do to begin with;
1. Get locks fitted (have barrels and keys already)
2. Polycarb barrier between cab and rear (for security as well as a bit of safety i suppose)
3. Cleaning mould from interior of soft top and patch the small holes that have been caused from that.

Gear selection is pretty stiff in 1st and 3rd so if anyone has any advice i would appreciate that too.

More photos to follow
Cheers

Anthony

Good Morning

Well come - and great looking truck.

Mine is the same very tight between gear changes - but put it down to the very low km (80,000km).

Not sure if this is applicable, just had my Triton gearbox overhauled for the same reason. Turned out to be the selector guide rods binding on some nylon rod guides. The nylon swelled over time and made the process very tight. Top off the box, remove rods, drill nylon guides. Perfect.

Any takers?

Thanks PJ

Gday

The door lock barrels should be the same for the push button doors and the anti burst doors. I am pretty sure most of the 6x6 have push button defender style handle .
Either way give roverparts in victoria a call, thats where i got mine

Had an Auto electrician come and fix my battery connection (cable snapped behind the connection), and discovered that it wouldnt start.

ended up being a problem with the fuel pump solenoid which was fixed as well as the throttle was playing games.
All good now and you can now clearly hear the fuel pump engage when you turn the ignition on. good stuff! :D

the bloke who was helping me is a mechanic who specialises in heavier machinery but has 10 years in the Army (transport) and knew a bit about the Perenties which was nice.
