What I did today in my Perentie
« on: September 21, 2013, 06:53:01 AM »
I rubbed Lanolin spray into the paint to bring some life back into it, drove it into a lucerne paddock to take some nice photos and the sheep came up for a look! - my two favorite things together at the same time, doesn't get better than that Lol

Any other people with photos of what they did in their Perentie??

Cheers
Scott

Hmmm.....

Lanolin and sheep. Scott, you're not a closet New Zealander, are you?

It does look very nice.
But, it's missing something. There needs to be something on the left of that picture.

Started to fix up the tangled mess of canopy ropes so it won't flap around as much.
Given the canopy has been of the vehicle for some time (surveillance, remember), it has clearly been thrown on for disposal.
Kind Regards, Barefoot Dave.

Today I fitted a new Pintle Hook, Removed the spare wheel for cleaning, and fitted the other spare in the back.

I wired in a battery master switch today, didnt even take half an hour,  Peace of mind until I get an ignition switch fitted anyway. mounted it on the front of the seat box and hooked it into the positive lead, too easy!

Hey Juddy,
Was there a problem with the original pintle or did you just need it to lock?

I am looking for a combination hitch to fit both pintle & standard tow ball trailers, do you know if they are available anywhere local?

Jake.

Hi Jake

I had this new one that locks, so I just fitted it, plus I hate the spinning ones. Old one is now sold on.

Re - Pintle hitch combination. Ebay - 150 bucks delivered. Fitted one up the other day put the black rubber condom tow ball covers you can get anywhere (probably ebay as well) over the ball as I had one handy and looks the part. Fitted straight on and it does carry the Australian standard reference on it. Beware of some cheaper ones getting about as they are not Australian standard.

Re -Isolation switch. I also fitted one but to the negative lead and put it through behind the passenger seat into the side mount 24 volt Battery box area. The passenger under seat box has a second hole in it for the leads which has tape over it on the right side closest the seatbelt side. Remove the lead and grommet from the left side hole, fit the grommet into the right hole - cover the other one up with tape, refit lead through grommet and the negative lead reaches the isolator with ease - then made 1 x short lead up across to the chassis for earth. This way the isolator can be reached from the gap where the seat belt hangs and also cannot be seen. You can also reach behind the seat from the drivers position and flick it on/off no worries. Again good old ebay for the isolator 40 -50 dollars there abouts delivered and seems to be good qaulity.

Re - Afterward - "what I did today", was drink beer and look at my beloved Cammo money pit - admire it until the paint near fell off and all six little brown men were gone! Or was it seven?

ummm.....they where never designed to sit out there..... ::)  nothing but the threaded rod for support.

In true engineering ingenuity you need to deflate them to fit them inside in the correct loc.

The secondary loc: remove the doors, fit secondary bars to both sides, and then bolt the tyre on. (the side bars have the tabs for the secondary barwork)

AL, I agree, Outside the design parameters.
Was just a mock up, looking at the idea of a 6 seat modification.
If I go ahead, There will be S2A LRPV style hangers attached to the ROPs mounts.

We got around the fit issue by keeping the side spares at off-road pressures and having the bins as far rearward as possible.
An engineer mate made up some +30mm threaded rods to full engage the bracket thread.

For those at home, the ROPS fouls the front of the 2 internal spares preventing them from sitting flush with the tub sides.

Dont suppose you have some detail pics with measurements of the door wheel bars?
I have the RPS pics but it's a bit hard to work the dimesionsand angles from that.
Cheers, Dave
