110 Sallyman.
« on: December 19, 2014, 11:17:08 AM »
After chatting to a mate, David Benson, a while back, I found that he had sold a Perentie 110 Sallyman in 2006 and that he had a few photos of that vehicle, albeit not very good quality 6x4 prints.
So, here's a teaser .... I'll put more up as they come to hand.

Note the side window ... top left corner.   Both sides have single windows mounted towards the front.

Had a photo hunt, a little like an egg hunt at Easter, but a lot less fattening!
Unfortunately the vehicle was only in the background of the pic.

Sallyman vehicles were civilian 130's of late, and in the old days, sivy rovers too (series 3 period).  I am guessing this was a GS or survey vehicle perhaps?  Wonder if we could find out the vin?

Maybe Richard. It also has a hard wired stereo and perhaps car keys.

Most (but not all) stereo mods I saw were mounted in a box with speakers, with power drawn from the red/black aux jacks.

Pete

P.S.  as an after thought.... Both mods could have been done post service of course ! ;D

Yep, thats right mate. I don't think that was ever in question.

Whether it was used by the sallyman or not is what I thought it was about... entirely plausable, I've seen it done before (a GS) in the early 90's.... I always assumed it was on loan or by 'local arrangements'

Cheers,

Pete

By the looks of the little that can be seen, wide tyres, and wide flares to cover them legally.  Dave tends to regularly have different vehicles registered as runabouts.

*snip* Wonder if we could find out the vin?

The only 'lead' I can give is that this vehicle was advertised in 'Just 4x4' trader mag, I believe, around March to May? 2006.
I have actually seen the ad in that mag, as luck would have it, I was at the quack's in 2014 and Just 4x4 was one of the mags in the waiting room .... sheesh, don't ask what the rest were.

Cheers,  Daryl.

That's a 110 with series 3 body, raised 2", dislocation cones and a Nissan SD33T and 5 speed box.   Went well, but kept getting hot.   I don't think any of it was defence.
