Well I set about getting some photos for this thread yesterday - since the disappearance of the ridiculously named thread by a ridiculously named forumite on a British LR forum there really isn't a good online repository of this information.

569203:

543384:

ANR1534 (note the softer edges on the rim):

Confirmation of offset (+20.6mm):

I'll try to dig up an AYG8038 and AYG8108 for comparison next week.

Ridiculously named pom forumite with ridiculously named thread' 'Tis I,  at your service. First post, I see what you're up to in this thread. I won't bother making a meal of the pleasantries, you clearly know of my own thread. Sometime last year, that forum closed my words from prying eyes.
Written as a Buyers' guide aimed t UK auction buyers trying to deal with lazy, clueless or errant sellers, you'll be wanting my rewrite.

More details and previous errors removed. Ahem...

Oddly it seems you Aussies have more of the obscure rims than us Poms? Or more to the point, and here's the thing, are actually prepared to put stuff up to verify, rather than simply sit there wingeing about my efforts, all sayig what should happen. I'd get one bloke willing and then it'd fade. After that it'd be hijacked by more t*ssers.

And methinks I *loves* what Diana is doing... filling some of the gaps, it's in the same direction. Much, much tighter.

With your permission Diana, two Qs:

1) When you've added the other variants,  can I snaffle it to update my version?
2) Will you marry me?

I'll try to dig up an AYG8038 and AYG8108 for comparison next week.

I was longer than a week; AYG 8038:

AYG 8038 (L) and AYG8108 (R):

Note the difference in offset; they're difficult to pick otherwise.

The Haulmark 750kg trailer rim - HM01545000 (effectively identical to AYG8108):

272309 (ROK version):

231601 (ROK version):

Note the step on the centre near where it meets the rim to facilitate the large offset:

ANR4583:

There are many knockoffs of this rim about; look for stamped markings on the nave and the part number stamped on the rim.

Thanks for all the images, although I must make a comment.  From 1953 Rubery Owen and Kemsley (ROK) were the Australian contract manufacturer for all Land Rover wheels in Australia.  They remained the manufacturer of Series 3 and 110 wheels AYG 8038 and AYG8108 although by that time the company name was Rubery Owen Holdings (ROH).

To call the commercial Land Rover pattern wheels made in the same factory as the AYG8038 and AYG8108 then sold to other Australian manufacturers like Cooks Body Works or Haulmark and the civilian market "knockoffs" is a stretch.  Remember for many years the 16" Land Rover PCD rim was a standard component for heavy trailers and mobile site trailers.

I can see from the order of entries it may have read like I meant to say that the the Hallmark rim was a knockoff, which I didn't. I've shuffled my post around to change that. I simply meant to say that there are ANR4583 copies out there which look the same as the genuine article but lack any markings, people have been caught out by misleading ads and bought fakes. Same goes for ANR1534 too.

Best I stay 'Schtum' on the Aussie stuff. I know nothing.
Dervish, I've just got hold of the side-by-side comparison pics I was wanting from you. Will update the thread with them in a few days. A moving target, I now have 11 full variants of the 61/2 J rim alone, this only UK made stuff! I leave without including anything Aussie. Reckon I have enough pics to have every myth that goes from forum to forum on these, proven bunk.

Please, certainly wrt to the Aussie end, and maybe something else, what might I have missed?
