The 101 Forward Control in Australian Army Service

This page of 101 and Rapier photos Appear to have been taken when the 101 was first introduced. We believe that the copyright holders of these photos is the Australian Army as the photos were taken at the RAEME Training Centre.

The photos showing the Rover and Rapier Fire Unit were taken on the concrete apron in front of Electrical Wing, possibly in 1979 when the equipment was delivered.

The one's depicting the guys setting the Rapier Unit up, was taken on the hardstand in front of the Surface to Air Guided Weapons building (which was just below Electrical Wing). The members in the photo were members of the Rapier Maintenance Course being conducted at the time

A big thanks to Phillip Dawson for the information on where these photos were taken and to Stuart Kirkham for taking the time to scan these images and send them to us.

The photos seem to have been taken when both vehicle and missile launcher were quite new.
