I notice that there isn't any blue slips listed against these.
In the current auction? Which vehicles? The 4x4s, 6x6s and No5 mostly do, it's just the incomplete/damaged 4x4s that don't have blue slips.

It's a whole lot of Velcro strips. Reflective strips could be one reason, perhaps for a vehicular game of Laser Tag or Skirmish?

Do we still use miles equipment?

My guess was velcro as well, but for camo 'pads'. I think the poms had something similar on some of theirs (the snatch landys ?)

All of the above sound plausable though....

Why dont they sell land rovers with trailers any more?

And what has happened to the cooks body works trailers? Are they all sold off or some still in service?

When using the same equipment as your 'enemy' during operations everyone uses IR velcro 'colours' to identify teams etc. So makes sense that vehicles get the same treatment in larger operations?

IR has become pretty vital in modern Ops. There have been friendly fire incidents and to minimise any mis-identification between US and UK etc. Those guys piloting-by-remote the ever-present drones are in the States and... satellites look down...

There is a Afghanistan SForces photo in the AWM archive showing a trooper and vehicle on stand down -on the ground/gravel about 10ft away is an Australian flag laid flat on the ground. It could only be seen from above. Was it SOP?

AFM don't actually know what is coming up for auction, what happens is that in the month or so before an auction DDA start delivering them vehicles and trailers that they put into one of the upcoming auctions.  Not everything at Minto etc, will be sold at the next auction.  e.g. when I picked up B52's last trailer before Christmas they had just been delivered a Haulmark MC4 20 Ton heavy plant trailer.  That trailer is not in the current auction.

If you want a Cooks, a friend bid on and won 2 at an earlier auction, one will be surplus to need.  If he sells it he was going to ask $2,500, or that's where he would start the bidding on eBay.
