Just be careful if you are buying a No.5 trailer.  Two of them in this auction have had new A frames fitted to them prior to sale.  They are made out of RHS and painted green.

Im not sure what the lot numbers were for the trailers as i didnt realise until i got home that all the trailer pics on the front page have the round drawbar on them

The on-line pics now show the A-frame replacement for the lots as identified by 303gunner - this with its civvie trailer hitch could appeal to some users.

And they have ball couplings.

Pitty the bids are so high already as they would make a good donor tub fo my No.5

Went and had a look at the Melbourne vehicles and trailers.

A couple of "traps" if you're not careful, and a couple of very good vehicles

I started most of the vehicles and mechanically all good but some firewalls/chassis not so good.

One vehicle is a Timor vehicle

Some of the No 5's I'd keep clear of

If anyone is interested in buying a vehicle and want an honest opinion PM me and I'll fil you in.

The Vehicles are all Nth QLD vehicles, been to Minto and then transported to Melbourne.

The guy said they'll see how the auction goes and if successful they might do another one in Melbourne.......
Lots...............

Ha-Ha! How time have changed! Probably less than 12 months ago. $609 for a No5 Trailer with near new tyres would have seemed like an absolute steal. Lot 63 does have a very straight tub and would paint up well.

I expect that the long A-frame and ball coupling might make these two trailers especially attractive to civvy buyers with say a Disco or Def Extreme who like the appeal and build strength of the No5 as an off-road trailer but are discouraged by the pintle coupling.

AFM do have a lot of trailers, so I supposed repairing a damaged on in that fashion makes sense to appeal to a wider audience!

This one is an interesting RAAF GS http://www.graysonline.com/lot/0047-5007479/transport-trucks-and-trailers/land-rover-110-4x4-cargo-soft-top-7-1989 as we have a photo of it in service as a RAAF Quick Response Force Vehicle or some such name I found it being called.  Barwork and weapon mounts for ADG's I suspect, later replaced with the use of different vehicles.

But it won't be $609 after the buyers premium and GST are added.

With buyer premium and GST it will cost you a whopping $710 ;D. As you say....how times are a changin'.

When you're going to throw away the chassis then it makes less economic sense.  $500 including BP+GST like the ones at Manheim-Fowles Moorebank 18 months ago would have been attractive.

I'm confused :o. Why would you throw away the chassis? Trailer comes with NSW blue slip. Trailer has already been modified to accommodate a 50mm tow ball. All ready to hitch up and drive away with no modification costs.

Could Greys be modding these in the hope of obtaining more $$?(wider market)
Might be a tester.
BTW WA vehicles are being shipped East for the auctions. Tommy and I saw some parked up in the rail yards but a mate has also said he has seen 110's coming in on low loaders to be shipped east.
now that is BS!
