Timber between tray and chassis
« on: March 17, 2019, 12:11:33 PM »
Hi all,
Does anyone know the thickness of the timber that the tray sits on?
I thought I had the correct size.  On the other hand does anyone know the measurement of the tube support at the rear between tray and chassis?

The timber packing is 3" wide x 1/2" thick.
The spacer tube is exactly 120mm from the top of the welded on washer to the bottom end where it sits on the steel plate.

Thanks Ravin.
Do you know what size bolts are used to mount the rear toolbox bins to the tray?

The RPS says they are 3/8" x 7/8" long, UNF bolts with flat washers.
I had a look at my old MK3 this morning and that looks about right. I'd go with 1" or 1 1/2" to make it easier to get it on.

Edit. Ok just got home and pulled up a bit of the old rotten deck to get a clear look.
Maybe because mine is a MK3, I actually have 5/16" bolts holding mine on. There is a nut welded to the C channel and the bolt comes up from inside the toolbox.
Maybe they upgraded to 3/8" in the MK4 for extra strength? I've never seen a MK3 RPS to compare, but I know there are a fair few differences between the models.
Either way, there are 8 bolts holding each rear toolbox on.

Cheers again ravin. I bolted all the boxes up tonight along with the Jerry can holders using 3/8 unf 1" long.
I need to sort the timber now,  it appears the timber has shrunk to approx 20mm
