Paint peeling on front door skins
« on: January 23, 2019, 09:09:20 PM »
Hi, I was checking over my FFR, and I found the paint peeling with white powder underneath at the lower front corner of the front door. Is this electrolysis between the aluminium door skin and metal frame, if so how do you stop/repair this reaction.

It sounds like this is corrosion of the aluminium door skin, probably from exposing a chip in the paint to salt water, rather than an electrolytic reaction with the steel door frame.

Look at THIS THREAD on dealing with flaking paint on corroded galvanising for hints and tips.
