Great to see you searching out the history of your GS. You may have a unique vehicle. Keep researching :)

My GS 172-463 had a line reel mounted in the tub at some stage in it's military service. The evidence is the four holes smack bang in the middle of the tub floor. Are these holes evident in your GS tub?

I have posted a photo of the same type of reel and holder that was installed in the tub. You can see both in the photo Richard posted. If you keep an eye on ebay, one of these reel holders comes up for sale every now and then. As far as I know, it has not sold each time it has appeared.

Mmmm, I wonder.  Wrecker ??  I know there is more than we have confirmed so far.  That has the winch gear etc mounted at the front of the tub, pulleys at the rear corners ...

The S2A wreckers had an oil reservoir tank up against the tub bulkhead. The winch was then bolted to the floor immediately to the rear of the tank. Your tub floor holes do not match up with the tank and winch setup. Not only that, the holes appear to be too small to support a winch of this size.
Have a look underneath the tub and see if the holes are drilled through the underfloor cross-member. If so, this would be to give the bolt/nut more strength and would suggest that they were positioned for strength rather than at random. If they are not drilled through the cross-member then this would suggest that the object bolted to the floor was not of significant size or weight.

The first photo shows the wrecker winch and the second shows a wrecker tub that has had the winch holes patched over. The LHS middle patch probably has something to do with the oil tank pipework.

What is the Census Code on your Nomenclature Plate ? that may give an idea as to what it started out as. 6028 being a GS vehicle (Utility Landrover Series 2a 109wb)

Just looked up your vehicle 113-136 and it is listed as a 6028 GS has it got any mofification plate/plates fixed to it, maybe on the send of the seat base,if so the numbers scratched/stamped out will give the modification done to it.

does anyone know what the bracket bolted to the back fo the cab is ....i also found in the toolbox a bit that you would use to bolt a tyre down?? could a tyre have been bolted to the cab??

Ahem!!! In actual fact there was an angle iron square that was bolted to the floor to locate the spare wheel!!!
I realise that the civvy parts book quotes a fuel holder bracket that fits on the spare tyre internal mount, but in my time in the green machine, it was a chargeable offence to carry fuel inside an enclosed vehicle.

The RPS book shows it as a jerry can retainer but that's not to say that it's use was not changed to spare tire locator at a later date :D.

The larger hole to the left is of interest as it is the size of hole you would feed a fuel line/hose, electrical cable or similar through. It certainly isn't for a bolt.

And not to state the obvious, but isn't the spare carried on the bonnet in most cases in the Aus Army ??  Hence why not normally a bracket there on a LWB??

Are the holes below the bulkhead "kink" or are they further rearward?

You know in the 480 photos I have of S2a 109 GS vehicles, only one shows in the tub of the vehicle!!!  Certainly no such bracket on the floor in the photo of a panel van in my collection of pics.  Must fix that some time.

That bracket/retainer looks rather small to hold a jerry can. If this is the original retainer shown in the RPS (certainly looks like it), then why is it referred to as a jerry can retainer?

The other thing to remember is that the bracket/retainer cannot be fitted with the floor tread strips/plates in place. RPS confirms this by showing tub with retainer but no strips/plates. Although Jyes GS has these on the tub floor, they may have been retro fitted later in service.
