110'S SOMALIA 1993

Hi Boys ,

I attended a Somalia 25 year reunion and checked out a picture show which had lots of Land Rovers deployed to Somalia with 1 RAR . Many with clear ARN's

Here are a couple of photo's to wet the whistle while I chase up a copy of the disc.

The 6x6 is 51 497 and the FFR I can't read that well , I'm sure someone might ? Two soldiers in the photo are A Company 1RAR , the one with the old issue tin helmet not sure where he's from? So I'd presume it's A1 , OC Alpha Coy FFR.

Almost 100pc that its 48-717.

Checking the ARN lists:

48-117 seems to be a GS.
49-117 seems it is a FFR.
49-717 seems it is a FFR.
48-717 seems it is a FFR.

..if you then check 48-717 notes it has a AWM library pic from Somalia: "AWM ref P01735.112. Also A Landing Craft Medium lands troops and vehicles ashore at Tahira Wharf, Papua New Guinea, on the morning of the Amphibious phase of Exercise Olgeta Warrior 2009. AFM April 2014 Auction, NSW. Incomplete and not operational (due to AQIS post OS Deployment?)"

Wrong 48-717 if you look you will notice the first of the last 3 digits has the same angle as the last
