But still no meal availability or even coffee/tea which was available previously.  It will be better than bush camping and not as crowded as Ball Park so O.K for those preparing their own meals.

Hi Diana,
Sorry, I forgot to reply to you more fully. Regarding your remark about a meal availability at the Showground. When we sent out information on the use of the Showground around Sept in the last KVE Newsletter, we asked for people who wished to use the camping facility to show expressions of interest and to contact Neville Smith, who you have now recently met . It was also in that newsletter that there could be a possibility of one of the organisations in the town doing a meal out there, if there was a demand ............ well, the silence was deafening, so that was the end of that. As for coffee and tea, most campers have those basic essentials.

Chill folks,

KVE Annual Swim in..........
It's a chance to get together, chill out and share the dream, and yes, it has changed from the Jump Shack a small gathering of a few hundred people of yesteryear.

I KNOW KVE folks put a lot of time in for a lot of things. If meals/coffee/tea are a concern, bring a BBQ and a Hexi stove. Help out the meal availability: maybe others can organise this?

I would not be complaining about the facilities. I have dug a hole and used a bucket 'bush style' many times.  One shower & toilet is luxury IMO. I stay at Ball Park as I have some wonderful friends there. I love the week and would not miss it for the world.

Things have changed from what was.  It annoys me that people complain about the event.  IF you want to make it better put in the effort. Donate to KVE for the auction, be a member,  help out, but do all you can.

I can't change the KVE and I don't want to.  I just want us all to have a great time. It's my passion.

End rant.

Ian

Thanks Ian for your kind words.

There is not a day that goes by where Richard and I don't do something towards running this very successful event at Corowa. Many hours are spent on the computer and Skype has definitely helped with communications of our club especially as we have people in all states of Australia and overseas countries as well.

My associations have been from the first year it started in 1980 and since 1996 I have spent thousands of hours making sure everything goes smoothly for the participants. Every year there are large numbers of people who ask for information on the event and it is great when I have met some of these people who appreciate the voluteering work done by the committee.

One thing I have learnt is that you can't keep everybody happy all the time. I would really like to reduce the time I have to spend on KVE matters particularly when people only criticise without offering to help. With a small membership KVE is limited to the amount of work we can delegate to our members and we have been encouraging people to help out at the event even if you are not a member of our organisation. People are welcome to join KVE which will enable them to put their ideas forwards.

Is there anyone out there who can assist with the following tasks:
•   Site office both during the week and  people are desperately needed on Saturday while at the Showgrounds.
•   Marshals for the drive from Bangerang Park to the Corowa Showgrounds
•   People to help with the Auction and Presentations on Saturday evening such as someone to write up the auction cards, people to collect the money, people to hand out the goods, spot bidders, etc. (this was left to the same few people in 2012 so we really need your help.)
•   People to go around and ask participants to complete the survey forms
•   People to hand out the daily newsletters.
•   Setting up the site office on Sunday 10th March
•   Cleaning up the site office on Sunday 17th March

In relation to tea and coffee KVE has always offered this at Ball Park Caravan Park as this has been the main location of our event. People need to remember to come down to Ball Park and sign themselves in at our Site Office as soon as possible upon arrival in Corowa.
The Site Office times from Monday to Friday are:
Monday 11th March:  9-11am and 3-6pm
Tuesday 12th March: 9-11am and 3-6pm
Wed 13th March: 8.30-11am and 3-6pm
Thurs 14th March: 8.30-11am and 3-6pm
Fri 15th March: 8.30-11am and 3-6pm

On Saturday there will be a Site Office at the Showgrounds for late entries, completed Voting Forms, Survey forms etc.

If you are not on the KVE database forward an email to kveinc@optusnet.com.au
With the entries we have to date it is going to be a very interesting gathering of vehicles. Remember to Pre-register by 28th February to receive a special pack of mementoes. Only $15 per entrant.

I hope everyones restorations are coming alone to plan and I look forward to catching up with you all.

I was talking to Neville Smith last night and he has not had many phone calls regarding using the Showgrounds yet so if you are looking at camping or wanting to set up a Swap Meet stall make sure you contact him ASAP. We have decided to take bookings for the undercover Swap Meet sites.

For those wanting to use the Showgrounds for Camping or having a Swap Meet stall please take note of the following:
If you wish to camp at the Showground or book a Swap Meet area, please contact Neville as soon as possible:
Neville Smith (KVE  Vice President)
on 0429 350 569  or  bignev69@gmail.com
( or Jan at kveinc@optusnet.com.au )
Please let Neville know what days you expect to be at the Showground and how many people coming with your entry.

If an Undercover Swap Meet area is desired, then book now as it will be a case of first come, first served, the remaining areas will be outside, also let Neville know how much area you will need for your stall.

Diana, thanks for your recon of the new area - I for one and I'm sure many others appreciate it.  However, I've had a good read of the thread and I think KVE have merely explained their position in a general nature and have not directed any accusations to specific individuals.

Regardless, this thread gets a chill pill for a day or two  :-X

The thread is now unlocked.  Please keep your comments constructive.

Cheers,

Pete

Thanks to those who have already pre-registered. With the number coming in at the moment I wouldnt be surprised if we get approx 250 people who pre-register. Our Special Edition KVE newsletters included with the preregistered entry packs look great and there are some very interesting stories.

If anyone is able to help out at the Site Office please let me know and also if anyone is able to assist with marshalling the vehicles on the Saturday. The Showground and Racecourse Trust have been in contact and everything is on track. Neville Smith has received some phone calls from people who are wanting to camp at the Showgrounds and also from people who want Swap Meet sites.

Those people with items for our auction please drop them at the Site Office during the week.

If anyone has any questions feel free to post on here or send me an email kveinc@optusnet.com.au

For people using the Showgrounds and for all participants on the Saturday the following guidelines have been set by the Corowa Racecourse and Showground Trust:
1. Camp only in the designated areas.
2. Leave plenty of space around the unloading ramp(s) and do not encroach on the roadways.
3. Strictly no dogs are allowed on the grounds -- no exceptions.
4. The race track is out of bounds to all.
5. Keep the marked display area clear until its use on Saturday morning.
6. Only establish swap stalls where directed.
7. Keep noise and machinery movement down to a minimum when trainers are exercising horses.
8. Exercise care when driving all vehicles so there is no damage to the grounds.
9. The only access to the Racetrack toilets is to be on foot through the pedestrian gate in the fence.
10. In case of the need to evacuate the site, exit through the main gates to a safe location in the adjacent streets.
11. There are to be no campfires on the grounds.
12. For all vehicles on Saturday once your vehicle is placed in the display area they cannot be moved until 11.30am, and will then need an escort marshal to assist you out of the shared traffic zone.
13. Please do not litter the area, and either take your rubbish with you or place it in a bin provided before you leave.

if you are planning to stay at the Showgrounds make sure you have contacted Neville Swith prior to your arrival.

We will be fortunate enought to Have Mark Fletcher otherwise known as Fletch from the Channel 44 program 'Classic Restos' with us for a couple of days. He will arrive on Wednesday and be with us through to Friday morning. If you think you have an interesting restoration story get in touch with me and I will organise for Fletch to interview you.

A number of military vehicles have arrived in Corowa over the weekend. Ian Evans from Cooma arrived in town yesterday after a 6 hour journey (see the attached photos).
The weather is in the low to mid 30s with very little chance of rain.

Went up to Corowa on Saturday for the day. It was good to catch up wit a few familiar faces and meet new ones.
I was chastised for not bringing a military vehicle but in my defence I did bring a civvy trailer that had two rims from a military vehicle and the trailer was painted in genuine army olive drab paint.

The photo's I took at Corowa.

It was a top day and worth the sprint up the freeway.
