imported 96100170A 24v rhd ffr, ex royal aircraft establishment Farnborough, no british army rego number. lives in Whyalla SA

A missing link for several years that one, it went direct to Farnborough from the factory and was never issued with a British Army VRN. Originally it was thought the truck went to Farnborough for loading trials onto various aircraft and air portability with Helicoptors etc. However with that roof and colours it does seem to suggest the roof is a part of its history at Farnborough and could possibly have been a crew bus.

What is the ARN of the 101 at the Bandiana mueseum ?
That's odd. It doesn't have a plate on it.

I think it is the only vehicle in there with no plate.

Gary - so you got it afterall - great stuff - as you know I have known of this vehicle for a long time and it used to be in good running condition.

So how is is it now - and what is with the gearbox arrangement and the free wheeling hubs?

Garry (the way it should be spelt)

Gday Garry.

Just got back to perth after being stuck on the other side of the pond due to the nullabor fires. I got to chat with the original owner and he said its been converted to part time 4x4.it has a p76 4.4 in it with custom exhaust manifolds and 2 x 200ltr gas tanks in the back. looks to have a air locker in the rear and he said it had been converted to high speed centres. will drop a cover off and have a look at some stage. the roof was made out of 4 109 tops and is a really neat job. I have only driven it 3 metres onto the trailer so still haven't had a chance to have a good look at it but it seems to run well. you can tell its been standing for some time thou. the original owner said he had had it for over 20 years. very nice old guy to talk with. only sold due to health from what he said. will take some pics and post in a separate thread if anyone is interested.

Sounds like a nice little project to tinker with for a while  8).  Did you tow it back?  Pick up from Thirroul or Helensburgh?

Your new 101 is the same as the one in post 18 of this thread.
