Series 2a colour query
« on: January 25, 2018, 01:07:08 PM »
Hi All,
I have taken possession of an awesome chassis and a few other bits and pieces. I was going to use the parts for another project but the previous owner talked me into restoring this ex army vehicle. The question is, what colour was the rig in first place. See photograph. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

are you in the U.K.?

In Australia the command recons were originally deep bronze green, then converted and later series supplied as Olive drab

Cheers

And if it is a British ex-Mil vehicle, there are lots of suggestions that the British BSC224 Deep Bronze Green was a greener shade Vs the blacker colour of Australian G63 Deep Bronze Green. There is also a Landrover factory colour of Bronze Green which is different again.

Yes. A bit of confusion here.
The photo supplied is a photo of a UK military Landrover. Are you restoring a UK military Landrover or an Australian military Landrover?

My first post here, so hope I'm not treading on any goes!.

I'm in the UK and currently own four 1960's British army Land Rovers, one 1961 Mk6 (Series Two) FFR conversion, which is equivalent to an Australian Series Two CR, and three Mk8 (2a 88") FFR's spanning 1963-65, these are very different from anything used by Australian forces, though they did carry Larkspur wireless.

The majority of British army Series 2 and 2a's were delivered in the standard civvi Landy bronze green, though often repainted in service.

Regards,

Matt.

Hi Folds, thanks for the feed back. I don’t know anything about the vehicle as yet. I am guessing it is Australian. So I am going with G63, is that it.

Ok. I am going with G63. Next question was the guards cut or the factory rounded shape for Australian Series 2.
Thanks.

Series 2 Command recons where round guards.  Series 2A were cut guards.  I have a feeling we know each other, have you a chassis and 2 firewalls being repaired at our place?
