109 S2A LRPV Help
«

G'day Folks,
I am after a bit of help in identifying a friends Land Rover.
It looks like a series 2a 109 ex LRPV (SAS/Norforce??), Vietnam era, infantry or RAEME with a few home mods. The white ghost on the drivers side front fender are interesting as is the wire cutter on the bull bar and the re-purposed tailshaft gun mount in the rear. The circular yellow plate with the figure 3 on the front I think from memory is a bridge load marker (3 tons?) but the Xmas Tree colors and numbers have me stumped.
Perhaps this vehicle was previously known to this site?
Any assistance would be most appreciated.
cheers
Jeff

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Just looking through the Library info on the
www.remlr.com
site and it looks like your Xmas tree is for 6 RAR.
I remember seeing Casper mentioned somewhere on either this forum or the old one on the AULRO site, but can't remember exactly where.
If you can get the VIN or a pic of the plate on the front dash with the census details and other info, someone should be able to work out it's ARN and maybe give you some better info.
Greg.

I recon this one did the rounds a few years ago. Was identified as a 2A ffr and been mocked up to look "special".

Hi JR ,
I think FFRMAN is right , having said that the roll bar does look like a LRPV Mk 2 job and the water cans on the sides was a very early LRPV mod.
If I was to bet on her , I'd say a mock up job.
Cheers,
Mick

I’m definetely not a LRPV expert, but history always shows -
that if there is a small vice on the brushbar, its a definite fake......

Thanks guys, yes the vice was definitely aftermarket but being an ex Norforce member we used to stick all sorts of crap on our Toyota's to make life out bush easier. These vehicles became a very personalized item when in service. Mine for example had pepperoni hooks and a fire extinguisher bracket bolted to the engine to heat tins of baked beans on the go.
The ARN number is 113-638 and chassis 25307369B. Its actually stamped as R.RECN.LRPV on the plate.
cheers
