What is your Perentie registered as?
« on: November 15, 2017, 01:17:17 PM »
I'm looking for details on the rego papers, or on the registration authority database.

Is it tray, utility, wagon, troop carrier?

State would be nice too.

This may help others to decide what to write down when it comes to the registration process. For example, if I bought a 4x4 cargo, I'd be registering it as a troop carrier. Might even do that when I get my FFR.

My RFSV is a utility in WA, I asked if it could be registered as a wagon or something else (I was going to try for the rear seat later) but was told it could only be registered as a utility.

I smiled when I saw this .. LROV SDS 2 AXLE .  It has 3, That's all , engine number and vin. ect. We don't have rego stickers in Vict. any more , UNLESS its a truck. So it must be a truck, luck I have a HC. licence....

My RFSV is registered as a panel van in NSW.
A tip for the unwary even if you have registered it from the RMS at Minto it is worth stripping all the extra gear off the vehicle and getting a new weighbridge certificate and having the vehicle reidentified as two seat panel van with a blue slip.  Frontline Machinery weighs the vehicles as is with all the gear on them and this will cost you lots of extra $ on your rego. With a RFSV add up the weight of two to three spares, recovery gear etc it makes a big difference. A bit of mucking around but well worth it.
Stay well clear of the light truck and utility if you can.

Ford Blitz  I even drained the fuel tanks of all but a litre or two and removed canvas and door tops etc, In WA the rego cost is based on the weighbridge weight.

In NSW, the Rego thresholds for weight categories are:
1505Kg to 2504Kg = $448
2505Kg to 2794Kg = $650
2795Kg to 3094Kg = $739

Listed unladen masses in the Data Summaries are:

GS                    2250Kg
FFR (w/Winch)   2330Kg
Survey (w/W)    2330Kg
Sen Comm/Pers 2430Kg
RFSV                2740Kg

As you can see, the RFSV costs over $200 extra in rego compared to the other 4x4s, and with a couple of full jerry cans and bins full of equipment, might come close to the next threshold and be nearly $300! But to get it down to the next lower rate, you'd have to reduce the weight by 240Kg. Remove the racks, bins, all spare tyres, maybe even remove the bullbar and side bars!!

My RFSV weighed 2,280kg at the weighbridge when rego'd.   I removed the spare tyres, spare tyre holder, jerry cans and holder, side racks, canvas, and supports, door tops, all tools etc, and I drained the 2 tanks which were both full at auction.  If I had thought about it early enough I would also have removed the winch, but had it booked in and didn't want to miss my inspection.

In WA rego costs $0.2168 x (weight in kg rounded up to nearest 100kg) +$18.70 flat fee, (so mine would have cost 2300 x $0.2168 +18.70= $517.34

NSW likes to make things much more complicated than they are.

Could be UTE, could be PVF, PVN or PVW

I got my RFSV down to the next level by stripping out the excess gear , the spare wheels and fuel. Did not have to remove anything else. Amazing the weight of all the bits that were carried in them. Makes the rego payments a  cheaper especially with multiple vehicles. Looking toward club rego for majority next year i think.
