Long Shot - Looking for a pair of radio table runners 2A FFT
« on: October 21, 2017, 04:22:03 PM »
A long shot I know, but I am chasing a pair of the radio table runners for the FFT project.

These are the steel angled frames that mount the table to the tub, and sit on top of the timber blocks.

Photos are attached, courtesy of this forum and REMLR.

I know that I could probably make some, but if anyone knows of any lying around......

It looks like these were also used by the poms on their 2A radio vehicles, I suspect that they were a standard part of the Larkspur vehicle kit.

At this stage, I have not been able to track any down over there either, but if anyone has seen any, I would be keen.

Cheers,

Mike.

Mike,

Extremely sorry that I senyt a set to the UK some 4 months ago, because they were too short for my Austin Champ.  They are identical, except for the length of the timber and the runners, with the Champ one's being longer to enable the radio tray to be moved forward (mounted at the rear of the Champ, facing forward) to service the batteries.

I've attached a diagram with dimensions provided by a Champ owner in the UK, so if you have to make a set you only need to find out the length of the Landy ones to get them made up.  They're pretty simple, but like you I'd prefer genuine:-)

Cheers, Alan

Thanks very much for that Alan,

Your diagram is much appreciated, I have made a pair of these, and it looks like they will do the job.

Not as good as the original pair that you sent to the UK, but good enough! :D

I would still be interested in a pair of the originals though, if anyone has them gathering dust somewhere.....

Cheers,

Mike.

Mike, it was me that bought the runners from Alan. If you're still looking I haven't used them on my project as I hadn't the heart to paint over the original one Aussie paint!. Postage might cost a bit though.
