----no info held/seen by me. That's not to say there isn't any out there: they are just not listed in my database, that's all.

Hi Mike,

I finally have a veteran - even though it's just a trailer 😀

Thank you for the feedback. Regards, Mick

In my timeline data I have the following RTA details for Feb 1969:

The Jeparit freighter arrived in Sydney from Vung Tau on 10 February 1969. On board it carried C Squadron 1 Armoured Regiment, C Squadron 1 Armoured Regiment Light Aid Detachment coming out of 1ATF.

About the date of the Jeparit was RTA, at the other end, HMAS Sydney (VTF) arrived in Vungers. It embarked 1RAR, returning from the 2nd Tour. The HMAS Sydney RTA data -arrived Townsville 25 February and then Garden Is. 28 February 69. (Data from HMAS Sydney R.O.P.)

So your trailer's service could have been with one of those Units. Start searching up 1RAR or 1 Armoured photos in SVN...

Hi Carzee,

That's great news , as you probably know I'm  ex 1 RAR and deployed with the battalion so I'd be over the moon if she served in Nam with the big blue ONE .

Cheers,

Mick

I hope the hunt goes well for a photo, it'd be a great result.

[tease alert] Here's the pic of my trailer 101-148 in SVN.
It shows thats its hot and that 101-148 saw service with a typical Light Ale Detachment in the Nui Dat lines.

When auctioned it had a Infantry Tac "56" (2RAR) and QM markings. In the SVN photo it has QM markings. After the National Service ended and the Army re-organised, 2 and 4 got linked to become 2/4 (Aug 73).

The shipping detail I have seen so far for 101-148 is: Jeparit RTA 14 November 1971 unloaded (alloc.) 4RAR Townsville.
4RAR(ANZAC) turned off the lights for the 1ATF in late 71 and in early 72 D Coy 4RAR closed up the head shed and embassy in Saigon. That was that.

:D Hi Steve, yes, bingo, have some document refs on that one.

154-489

RTA from SVN on HMAS Sydney (VTF) 10mar70, with 5RAR.

Shipped out again on the Jeparit 02apr71, listed on Bill of Lading, destination Singapore, out of Sydney - perhaps part of build-up for ANZUK. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ANZUK

101029: RTA Feb 1969 from SVN. In the early 1990s, it was in stock storage in Brisbane.

154954: no indication this one served in SVN from my research. On issue to 1 Signals Regiment during the 1990s.

Mike
Mike you've done a fantastic job. My post certainly stirred up a lot of interest. I'm very excited to find that 101029 is a Vet of SVN. The information you gave ties in well as I have service records dating back to 1970. Do your records indicate which ship 101029 came back on.

Thanks again Jon

G'day Mike C

With all this discussion I'm obviously wondering if my 1966 built No.5 173-589 had any SVN record.

The first unit I have recorded for it is 3RAR in 1972. Where it was for the interim 6 years I have no idea.

We're all asking a lot of Mike C getting info about individual trailers, I'm sure he has lots of other things to do.

I wonder if it would work for him and for us, if those of us who are interested post up a cumulative list of the ARN's of their trailers into a single table and if Mike has time he could then mark down in the table those with a known overseas history and those without.

Personally I am very grateful for any information Mike has given me in the past,  8) but I'm also sure its very time consuming for him.

What do others (particularly Mike C) think?

Good Idea. I was beginning to think he'd opened a bit of a Pandora's Box Trailer with the requests flooding in thick and fast.
