Trailers in SVN
« on: July 24, 2017, 08:17:12 PM »
I see mentioned here occasionally that someone identifies a trailer that has served in SVN. How is this information found out? Is there a list somewhere of all trailer ARN's that were deployed over there, or have a few trailers just been identified from old photos. I have 2 No.5's and would be very interested to know whether either of them were deployed to SVN. 101029 and 154954.

Thanks Jon

Yeah, there are some chronicles, covered in dust... its like the Maester's library in Game Of Thrones. But alas its nothing so interesting, its just some nerdy spreadsheets.

I collected info from SVN docs and photos seen in the documents in the Australian War Memorial. Manilla folders. A few dozen of them, some very fat and some very thin. Its mixed in with all sorts of forms lodged for shipping and loading plans etc. Dates are not sorted. Years and months are missing or incomplete, so there are many gaps in the "dbase". I can prove the point about document gaps: some vehicles have photos in SVN but so far there is no note in paperwork I have seen. And keep in mind we are talking about records and forms etc from 50 years ago now.

Also there is ADF dbase [current system] info which is not yet public. Nudge nudge wink wink. Say no more.

Here are two screencaps in the sections pertaining to your Trailers and it shows that nothing seen -by me- has mentioned your trailers.

Thank you for your efforts Carzee, I see ARN's very close to mine which makes me wonder.

Thanks again
Jon

101029: RTA Feb 1969 from SVN. In the early 1990s, it was in stock storage in Brisbane.

154954: no indication this one served in SVN from my research. On issue to 1 Signals Regiment during the 1990s.
