I'm trying to find a little more about the history of my Perentie.
Edit:
Under torchlight, I've discovered the faint markings of a thin rectangle under the tan paint on the driver's side.
I've also spotted what looks like the remains of a vinyl "7" on the passenger door, and a vertical line preceding it - possibly a "77" or "17"
I know the following:
ARN: 51-426
Date and location of disposal
Vin/chassis (used to find the arn)
Tac Plates read "RE" and "4218" which I presume is a Unit serial.
No visible markings or any unique nature - or signs of any being painted over.
Original canvas was marked "DNSDC" To which I understand is a distribution center, so probably nothing to do with vehicle.
I asked around at the military Museum I work for, and the general consensus is that "RE" might be Royal Engineers, but I don't feel that RAE would be abbreviated to that.
I have read that things like "LH" can indicate "lease Hire" and the likes.
Not understanding the system used here, I'm only guessing.
My time in the service was restricted to recruit in reserves, I wasn't paid to think, or spend time looking at the q-store books, and so, never learn't how this stystem works.
any hints would be greatly appreciated.
