No5 Trailer Parts weights
« on: August 17, 2012, 01:15:28 PM »
Does anyone know what a No5 chassis and tub weigh (separately that is)? I had a query from someone after my No5 trailer chassis recently....it needed courier transport, but knowing the weight would have been very handy as I had to make a guess.

Guessing here, but it looks to me it would be between one quarter and one third of the total trailer weight.

Ok, No.5 data summary is now online.

States that the trailer weighs 360 total.  Minus 2x wheels and tyres.  probably say 20 kg each?  so down to 320 kg for both.  I would say 200 for chassis and 120 for tub maybe?

Once the wheels, axle and springs are off, I would expect the tub to weigh more than the chassis.

Thanks Richard....I had guessed 100kg for the chassis and 200kg for the tub  ::).........

I have dismantled one of my trailers in the past, whilst manhandling both chassis (wheels off) and the tub, the chassis was about the same weight as the tub, I could just lift the chassis so probably just over 100kg, the tub is too awkward to lift by yourself but rolling it over gives good indication of weight.

So perhaps 50/50 split on weight........

Regards
Lots...............

Hmmmm....the 2 of us can lift the chassis reasonably easily but not the tub  ;) but then the tub IS more awkward. I feel the tub is heavier

Perhaps lifting the chassis wore Coops out and he was putting a half effort into the tub.
