Maybe Dennis, you could enlighten me on these holes? And does the rear look reasonably correct now that the add on has been discarded?

Without going out to have a look and by saying that I mean untarping LOL, the holes in the 1st are most likely for the ammo rack, the 2nd image they would be for the pioneering tool holders, unsure about what you mean in the rear end shot, cheers Dennis
ps when I get home from Dungog tomorrow afternoon (bloodbox is going for a tune up, I think I have it fairly close but I want it better) anyway I will take some images for you cheers,,.

I thought the second set may be for the tools, but as mine has all of the tools on the bonnet, I may just plate over those. Pics would be good and as I have to make windscreen brackets, looks like ammo racks will be needed as well.

Perry, you have in your hands a pretty unique species of vehicle. Why don't you just plate over the tool holder holes on the mudguards and replace the original ones in the rear. The only reason they ended up on the guards was because during the vehicles life the guards were damaged and new ones were manufactured from what was in stock, being predrilled 2a cut guards. The rear tool holders IMHO are one of the unique parts of these vehicles, and especially designed for them and them alone, and as a result part of the character of the animal.







The rear cross member looks good but don't forget that there is a swinging cover that covers the aperture of the gun cleaning staves storage pipe. (PTO tunnel)

I do agree with your argument re the tool position, but for now, as I don't have the "proper" tool holders and I do have a set of the "others" (which were on the vehicle) I'll use these. There are already a number of items which will need to be fabricated anyway 

Some photos of the rear of yours would be helpful too Glen especially the pto cover and dimensions. Harry and I need a sketch with sizes of the windscreen brackets also.

As most of you will know, stripping paint, sand blasting and painting take up a lot of time.

Here's a couple of progress pics with most of the small bits primed.

Grit blasting and cleaning up afterwards, prepping to etch prime and top coat takes up an awful lot of time, just ask me I know LOL, looking good there Perry, cheers Dennis

Just a question using a paint stripper on aluminium. Do you have to neutralize the stripper residue on the metal before painting?

I have never used stripper on aluminium.

All I have ever done is pressure wash the panel thoroughly, nothing has ever peeled off in the ensuing years cheers Dennis

As Dennis says, after stripping, sanding has to take place and washing down before painting anyway, so there's little likelihood of any residue.

Obviously a few hurt, one sore back one on the ground. 

I think this was deliberate, much as the classic Mexican gang member
is portrayed as turning his handgun sideways to aim and fire so I believe
this is what was happening here..

I suggest it's obviously damaged and no good..  I'll swap you a 52 80" to help you get over it??
