Madge 1959 Command Recon 110-574
« on: August 09, 2012, 04:27:55 PM »
after too long a journey, Madge has made it back on to the road with an 1960 early 2.25ltr fitted, solex carby and rocky mountain parabolics to smooth the ride.

Historic rego is much easier on the wallet...

next step forward should be fitting a canvas when the 2 tie bars i ordered from england arrive and a couple of creature comforts like a smiths heater, rocky mountain door tops and two reconditioned wiper motors.  :D

trying to chase any sort of unit history as i would like to put tac plates that in some way relate to it's history.

any help appreciated.

TIA

So which paint did you use? It looks different to the Protec camouflage green.

New paint often looks odd in different sun and photographic conditions.

I've got photos of grover new painted and weeks later that look green, brown and tan in different sunlight!!

Looking great!!  Wish my series 3 was looking so tidy!

Must look up rocky mountain door tops.  I forgot they did nice new ones!

The rear cross member looks different to the typical military one.
Can you tell us something about that?

Looks great- by the way.

It's a COmmand Recon, not a general service, much closer to a civilian spec vehicle.

Yep.  I was aware it was a CR, but all the file photos I've found show a civilian cross-member.

So, you're saying this one has a civilian cross-member but has had the bottom projection taken off?  Was it done to improve clearance, neaten up some damage or for cosmetic purposes?
It doesn't look out of place, just unusual.  Are there any other examples of this?

I'd never noticed either.  However it doesn't seem that the bottom protrusion has been removed, but the shape filled in on the angle.  Crash repair some time erhaps?
