« on: June 24, 2015, 06:44:13 PM »
I dropped this item off last week and picked it up this afternoon

it will form the basis for a carburetor rebuild for the gunbuggy this vehicle

that image was taken in 2005 inside the quadrangle @ 'Maitland goal', not too many Land Rovers have had that photo opportunity LOL, anyway wish me luck  LOL cheers Dennis  ;)

From yesterday, I removed the carburetor which is a simple enough job, once you have the bonnet up out of the way

here are the tools required to remove the carburetor (if it hasn't been modified by a prev/owner)

then to dismantle it a good blade screwdriver is needed and if your like me the good book close by to refer to as required, I didn't change too many things inside the carburetor as the numbers on the parts did not match what I was going to remove, so all put aside until I can talk to either Murray R (Modern mtrs) or some-one just as knowledgeable, a mad scramble late in the afternoon (storm front dumped 8mm rain) so it was re-assembled in the shed and re-fitted this morning.
Here is a short clip of the engine running before I adjusted the idle screw

back, and with it raining late yesterday, I don't want to move it across the grass as it will sink into the ground and possibly upset swmbo LOL, anyway when I do move it to road test it I will also road test 172-562 workshop truck, cheers Dennis  :)

Nice one Dennis :) sounds sweet as it is !

On a side note, I noticed the temp gauge sender unit isn't tapped into the top of the thermostat housing. Is that on the 'to do' list, or do you use a different setup ?

Cheers,

Pete

Pete, unless your engine has had a head change (for some reason) the temp sender should be located as shown in this image

this is the std setup for ex-mil Land Rovers, cheers mate Dennis  :)

oh  :o

I guess that's what I needed - a reference pic. The spare thermostat housing I have has a sender unit sticking out of where that large bolt head is on yours....

hmmmm.... I'll check the head on the shorty in a few days and see what's there.

Thanks Dennis :)
