Start simple = checked the fuses?

Need more information and the specs for aircon. like its draw... Both start/run.

How long did it work for?

Does the aircon. have its own fuse?  ;)

You have traced wire back to the CAV with test equipment?

What mods have you done from standard issue?

If you are sure its the CAV buy a new one that is 25kg less in weight. Or go to a truck wrecker...  8)

If the batts are flat the generator will not have a 'sense' voltage and they do not self-excite  ;-)

Jump start the 24V batts and re-check output.

If the batts have lost charge, but the sense wire is definitely connected, there is a problem with either the alternator not reaching the correct voltage to charge them, or the aircon is dropping too much voltage for them to charge.   You might check what your float voltage is ... can't remember what the float spec is but probably 2 x 13.8V = 27.6V.   Somebody else might know?
Cheers,  Daryl.
