RFSV Driving Lamps
« on: January 21, 2015, 05:23:11 PM »
My driving lamps the ones one the bulbar are not working, the bulbs and lamps are new, I have traced back the wiring to a small double fused box on the in wing guard, changed the fuses, and checked the wiring back to the switch, I am not sure if these lights have a separate fuse or are they wired into one of the other fuses on the panel? if so which one, I don't want to start messing with things.

Cheers

Justin

Unplug the lamps and test from the earth pin in the connector to chassis on ohms scale with tone. If no tone then you have no earth, start tracing the earth back looking for damage or lose connections.

Remember to prove-test-prove!  ;D

Can a member provide the brand and part details on the RFSV lamp please? I know it would be good to get nice new-tech (round) LED set of lights, but what size (watts) and overall dimensions are the original ones?

Scott told me this, they were superseded by Narva Ultima 175s from memory. Putting some on your RFSV bar?

Wow, faster service then a real parts counter!

Will I get some? Well I need something for coming home after a shift (2200) - and the access road is dirt girt by roos. I counted 112 grey roos in the front paddock yesterday, not counting the heads sticking out of pouches.

I was also thinking of getting some, but for the same price you can get some Chinese HIDs which will be far brighter.

They are only 100w Halogen. If you were going for performance over originality then I plan on going something like this.

BadCo

I had a set just like the ones in the link and 1 died pretty quickly, in saying that I got them for half of that price but I went back to my Hella 100w that ran trouble free for years

Garry

Which bit died, the lamp or the ballast?

Very interesting info to say the least. Thank you. I am fitting a dual battery set up, a RED Arc unit I purchased, so the power should be reliable, that just leaves a New Era box to get hold of. May visit the local auto elec this morning.

It was the Ballast. The importer I bought it from, a mate of mine could do nothing but order a new one so didnt bother

Another note about Earths, there is nothing more unreliable than Earths on Defenders. If it is an option run a cable back to the battery or to a remote post connected to the battery, it will save you more time than you think chasing your tail
