If you are thinking of carting a Landie in a Mk 3 even a LWB will fit....I carried an FFR a time or two in service. The weight of the FFR is more than 2.5 t. with all the gear, but most authorities rate the trucks highly enough to do it legally e.g. Vicroads will rate a Mk3 GVM as 12t.  The tray length is a nominal 14 ft. I think from memory that the "unladen "weight included the CES, so the actual weight minus things  like chains, tarp etc would be close to 5 tonnes.

Thanks, much appreciated
Lots...............

Looks like you need a couple of old tyres and some chains.

And maybe a decent ramp....

About time you got a Mk 3 Scott!

Exactly,

But it would look a lot better with a 2A and a Mk 3. ;D

Even better - a 2A on a F1 .

That would be something.

Er, sorry, no.
If I make it there, I'll be in the Perentie. Just doing a short stay.
Hopefully the REMLR photoshoot on the Friday and the swapmeet on the Saturday, if they're on on the same weekend.

Sorry for waming up this thread.
Does anyone know at what chassis number the stirrups on the Mk3 tailgates ceased?

Just about repair my tailgate and one very dead Mk3 tailgate has the stirrups but the one I want to use doesn't.

Also looking for a 1200 20 NATO pattern Dunlop. My truck has 4 but would like one for the spare.

Have had a nightmare with re sealing my front screens. Restored and re painted the frames and refitted the glass the first worked a treat once I found an appropriate seal but the second cracked just as I finished. After having new glass cut re fitted and installed the first screen cracked from the same point when opened up fully. Bugger!

The stirrups were fitted to all the Mk3s. they even carried through to the 1968 batch of Mk 4s. There were 3 batches of Mk3s and our unit had 7 or 8 from the last batch and they all had stirrups on the tailboard. There were a lot of changes in that batch, the tray was mounted to the chassis differently, just like a Mk4. The transfer case was made by Sonnerdale Richardson, rather than  Coote Jorgenson. The bins were like earlier trucks. It looks like you will have to use the drill after all.

Thanks for that I'm certified in drilling.  My truck was near the end of the first batch (566 of 600).

roof repairs completed, changed all wheel cylinders and master cylinder or actually had them all ss sleeved and rebuilt.

The truck as it appears tonight. (looks a lot better than when the RFS had it!)
