Looked at a 2a today. It had a strange marking.

It was a 2a. The chassis and engine numbers aren't in REMLR. It has a S3 dash. It's a bitsa.
I'm thinking some of the donor panels may have come from an ex-mil. S3 possibly.
What does the brains trust think?

The rear corner is certainly a little bit of a bitza,the end support bracket looks to be from a 110 type with only 1 light in the upper position,but you can see where it has been fitted useing pop rivets as the originals were roundhead solid rivets,you can also see in the paintwork where the original bracket went,there should be 2 holes in the rear ally panel where the lights went, the rear lights were verticle,not a hard job to remedy that, the tub lools the G O  the Series 3 dash would be a replacement probably fitted to replace rusty 2/2a type,has it still got it's 4 cylinder motor or the Holden conversion? if so make sure that the G'box is good as the Holden was a G'box killer if not done correctly.

As it's panning out the only thing ex-military about it is the tool brackets.
If I get it, I'll put a thread up on AULRO.
I'll be parting it out. There are two people who have first pickings. It has a Landrover 4 cyl motor. I just know it can turn by hand. No idea of the condition of anything.

I wouldn't write that rear tub off yet, the stencil looks kinda right,Tommy might have a little better idea on that,if the engine is a turner then there is a good possibility that it will start,when I got mine in 86 I drove it home it fumed a little but ran OK, when I pulled it down there were broken rings on all 4 pistons,and 020thou slap/taper but it still started and ran smoothly  total rebuild and 18,000miles down the track snapped a conrod bolt at close to 100kph,on the way to Brisbane,we were all dressed up for funeral,so proceded at reduced speed,attended then 60 + klm's back home just got the revs right with no bad noise,about 70kph and made it home,dropped the sump(that's when I found the bolt head,stripped the motor and that was the only problem,the replacement motor has now done 174,00+ miles and is getting a new timing chain

Again, if I get it. There are other interestes parties.
The ex-mil parts will be treasured. I want the tub and roof for my 100". Alien wants the windscreens for his S3 tray. There are other bits we may wish to keep. I've seen better chassis cut up for scrap. I would have liked the rear crossmember but there is little left to like.
It's a parter best used to keep other treasures on the road.

Oh, and the chassis number might be 4382110G and the engine number is 25156050D
